Is marriage over rated?

Yes i do think marriage is now days over rated, because people are getting married for the wrong reasons. Being married is a big show. Either for money, popularity,or just to be able to say they are married. That's not right! Divorce is a very common word these days, when (some years back) if this word was even thought of it was a big no no!!

People are getting married, finding out they don't "like" their mate anymore and calling it off. Some don't even make it a month. Leave take what ever money they can and have the nerve to get married again after three months? Why does this upset me so much? I'll tell you why. Because marriage is supossed to be forever. Not just a new game to play!!. Marriage is supposed be a union between two people who love each other, and are willing to go to hell and back TOGETHER. What is this world coming to?


These are just my personal oppinons on this topic. Not meant or directed to ony one or meant to hurt anyone. If this does... I do appoligize, but I had to let it out.

i think that it is quite the contrary.i think that marriage is under rated.it seems to me that everybody wants to do it.i met a woman once,and we just spent two days together,and she purposed marriage to me.and fully exspected me to except.

.Some people go overboard with it and make marriage seem over rated. But i personally dont think it is.

I agree with the lady. Marriage seems to be the fashionable thing to do for those that have money or just want to be seen with someone. Where I grew up, divorce was not even an option. People married because they loved each other and meant to stick it out no matter how tough it got. Just remember how long people where married(60, 70 even more). Now today it is more rare because people are into what is called "short term gratification". It is all about them instead of learning what make things between two people go. My own personal opinion, but I think it is very over rated.

`i don't think that marraige is over rated.....i believe people think that it is and that's why they treat it as they do....people have forgotten that marriage is more than just a piece of paper and his last name or where you stand in society,marriage is a union that 2 people vow to become as one,people quit at the first sign of trouble.......anyone can get married..but it takes..love,understanding,forgivness,honesty and humor to have a marraige.

`Hello I got married when I was just turning 20 . We went our own way before the year ended .I Think that getting married to a person who want to be in a marriage would be a good idea but It a rare thing when you find two people who want to be together for life in this day and age It is happening every day more people seening the Divorce judge then saying I do now. There was a Time that it held a value in life. now it out the window .so cold .People get married in red dresses, blue, pink,yellow ok you get the point no more white for purity. What a shame so It's not that it overrated it all together dead. unless you are really lucky and find a real friend to have a relationship with . Good Luck to those who got down that path.

`i got married at 18 years old we both saved our money and planned our wedding together,but like one member stated marriage is a wonderful thing when you stand still and let GOD put you together.it's no fun being married to someone who isn't ready in every aspect .i stayed married from 1985-2003 that's only be cause he was unfaithful and i couldn't find it in my heart to forgive him at the time .marriage isn't for everyone ,but i don't think it's overrated.
